A New Favorite

A friend recently introduced me to my new favorite meal--Bierocks! I loved them so much I've made them twice in the past two weeks!  The great part about these bierocks is they are super simple (blame Sandra Lee...)!  They are so wonderful I had to share!

I browned 1 pound of beef with a small onion, pepper, and garlic salt in the skillet. In the sauce pan, I melted a half stick of butter and wilted 3 cups of fresh shredded cabbage on medium heat for approximately 5 minutes. (The recipe called for 2 cups, but I like a little extra.) After both were done, I mixed them together.

The first time I made these bierocks I used a loaf of Rhodes bread, but this time I decided to use individual Rhodes dinner rolls and it worked ssoo much better!  I had to roll each one out individually of course, but I didn't mind. I had my handy dandy Pampered Chef roller!

After I rolled out the dinner roll, I put 2-3 T. of the meat and cabbage mixture in the dough. My friend added a little Velveeta to each bierock and it tasted delicious so I did the same. (Can you really go wrong with Velveeta?) Then, I pulled each edge to the middle and placed it on a greased cookie sheet.

I only set out 16 rolls to rise, but had enough mixture left for 2 more bierocks. (Don't they look nice all lined up on the pan?)  I baked them at 350 for 15 minutes, took them out and buttered the tops, and then baked them for 5 more minutes.

They turned out as perfect as I knew they would! I wish I had the better camera out so you could see just how perfect they looked inside!  You will just have to try them out for yourself!

Because I know that all posts are better with pictures of Logan, here is a picture of him playing in snow for the first time a couple of weeks ago. He refused to take his pacifier out, but he enjoyed himself. (You'll notice the broom in the background...Katy wouldn't go outside unless I swept her a path...)

Here is a quick video of Logan making his elephant sound. You have to listen closely or you might miss it! He doesn't "perform" very often so I am glad I caught it!

Good Morning, Katy!

All right, all right....   I know, I know....

There are mornings where Katy is the first one out the bedroom door to get Logan out of bed. There are other mornings when Logan attacks wakes up Katy. Sometimes he will try and play peek-a-boo with her and gently lift up her blanket and other times he will just plop right on top of her. Sometimes Katy will leave her bed for a minute and Logan will lay down in her spot.   Logan will just lay there and wait for her to return knowing she will want it back. Logan thinks he is pretty funny!  Katy is actually pretty tolerant of Logan in the mornings and will play along.  It is funny to watch their interactions in the morning. Here are a few pictures where Logan is waking up Katy.......

Logan was nice to Katy this morning.  He layed down and then pulled the blanket off of her.....

Can you feel the love??

How about now??

Poor Katy.......

New Logan Videos

I HAVE A ONE YEAR OLD!  I can't hardly believe it!  Logan turned one last Friday and we celebrated at Clay Center's zoo park, but before I share those pictures I need to post a few of the videos I promised you 2 weeks ago!  Some of the videos are longer than others, and some of them are long. You can't say I didn't warn you!  (The weird thing is I look at these videos from just a couple weeks ago and think, "Wow, he has changed so much!")

The first video is very, very short, but by the time I had the video camera ready, he was finished. The video is of Logan brushing his hair.  It is funny because if we say, "let's go brush your hair" he knows we are going to brush it with the blue brush. He will grab it and "brush" it himself. (Of course he can't actually brush it quite yet.)

The second video is of Logan dancing. He is definitely and music man. He loves anything that plays music!  In this video, Brian caught him dancing to the Backyardigans (I think that is what they're called...).

Brian and I recently purchased a couple new toys off Craigslist for Logan's birthday; however, we didn't quite make it to and ended up giving them to him that night.... ha ha!  The third video is of his new $10 truck. He is much better at maneuvering it now!! (P.S. Our has is a disaster in this video...Ignore!)

The last video is of Logan playing "catch" with Katy. He has become pretty good at throwing Katy's toy! The chair is one of the Craigslist toys as well. We purchased this Fisher Price Learning Chair in perfect condition for $12!  (It retails for around $120!!  What a steal!)  He LOVES this chair!

First Fair Fun

Over the 4th of July weekend, Wamego had their annual carnival so we decided to take Logan over and check it out.  We did almost everything we could possibly do with a 10 month old and a good time was had by all. Here are a few pictures and videos of the holiday.

Riding the carousel....

on the ferris wheel....

and Logan's favorite part....the ducks...

We also hit the swings before heading home...

When we got home, we set off a few fireworks....

There was also a neighborhood BBQ we attended. Logan wasn't thrilled with the "big" fireworks so we headed home early, but we still got a few good shots.

I realize that the videos are somewhat blurry and cut-off on the right side, but Blogger wouldn't upload the newly sized videos and after struggling with Blogger for nearly 3 hours it is how it is...

New Discoveries

Logan has discovered how to roll and scoot. It is quite amusing actually! Brian and I will put him on one side of the room and before we know it he will roll across the room. Of course, he can only roll in one direction... Most of the time he will roll until he gets under the coffee table and then cries until someone moves him back. Yesterday Brian and I were in our bedroom putting away laundry and Logan rolled into doorway and just watched us. It was too funny!

On his way across the room, he will stop and look for a toy or his pacifier. If he sees one of them, he will push his bottom up and scoot on his face until he reaches it. The poor kid is going to have rug burn on his face before too long!

I am posting a video of Logan rolling across the room. It is a great video because you will see him roll, but you also get to see his interaction with Katy, which isn't much, but is plenty as far as I am concerned. Logan will always just lay there and watch Katy run back and forth. Sometimes he will reach out and pet her, and will even start giggling when Katy chews on her squeaky toy. It's pretty funny! Anyway, back to the video... Three things before you watch this video...1) Logan is upset at the beginning because he lost his pacifier a couple of rolls before. 2)We are laughing so hard because he was tooting while rolling. 3) I know we need to pick up the Wii cords... Enjoy! (P.S. Just turn the volume down so you don't have to listen to my baby talk... From now on Idon't think I'll say a word while videotaping...)

A Visit to Santa

Logan went to see Santa twice this weekend! He was more interested in the people walking by him then he was in Santa, but we were able to get his attention for a couple shots. This photo is taken of Logan and Santa in Westmoreland. We had a Christmas "extravaganza" in Westmoreland Saturday morning with craft booths, a silent auction, a cake walk, and games for the kids, and Santa, of course. We thought it was neat and enjoyed attending the festivities. Some of my kids were there and enjoyed meeting Logan. (We like his arm placement in this picture. When I went to pick him up, he had ahold of Santa's beard!)

On another note, Logan rolled over from his back to his stomach tonight. He has been trying really hard for the past couple weeks, but tonight he did it! He had rolled on his side and was hanging out there for a while, and they all of sudden he kicked himself over. I was so excited I rolled him back over to see if he would do it again, and he did! Then we had to show dad, of course, and do it a couple more times just for the fun of it. He has rolled from his stomach to his back twice, but isn't as good at that quite yet. Logan is growing so quickly we can't hardly believe it! He will turn 4 months this week and Brian and I are both kind of sad about it... He definitely isn't a little baby anymore! We take him to the doctor next week to see just how big he is, but you can tell by the pictures that he is probably in the higher percentile...!

Here's a picture to start your Christmas week off right!

My Music Man

I have 3 men in my household. Brian, Logan, and Michael Buble. Luckily, Logan appreciates Michael as much as I do! The other day, after an extended period of crying, I turned on THIS guy...

which resulted in THIS guy...

(He also did this when he heard Jason Mraz. Thank goodness we have the same tastes in music!)

I'm a Big Boy Now!

Look at this guy holding his own bottle!

You would think it was a fluke, but he has done it several times now. He is also quite the "chugger" and so I frequently take the bottle out of his mouth so he will swallow and take a breath! He has kind of figured this out and will either hold my hand (fingers) or grab onto the end of the bottle, and when I go to pull the bottle out, he will pull toward his mouth so I won't pull it out! It is halarious! So much so that I give him credit and let him drink a couple more seconds!

He is quite the growing boy and eating 4 oz. every 3 hours! We haven't had him on a scale in 2 weeks...we take him on Thursday...it will be interesting to see what the scale reads!

Mr. K-State

Logan currently has more K-State gear in his closet than Brian and I combined. Most of it is too big for him, but Brian couldn't resist and broke out one of jerseys for Logan to wear while they watched Saturday's game. We took a family picture since we were all in K-State gear that day...Of course we all know how late the game started Saturday night and Mr. K-State didn't quite make it...

Splish Splash...

...Logan's takin' a bath!

Logan LOVES bath time. I think we spend more time pouring water over him than we do actually washing him. Before he would lay there looking at us and cooing, but last night he layed in his tub with his eyes closed and sucked on his pacifier. He wasn't sleeping, just relaxing. It was so funny I had to share it with you. So fresh and so clean...

Happy Birthday!

Today is Logan's birthday! His two-week birthday that is. It is amazing to me that he has only been in this world for two weeks. It feels like two months! The past two weeks have been filled with lots of cuddling, lots of sleeping, and LOTS of dirty diapers. I swear...we will change the little man and not two minutes later he will dirty his diaper again. And the best part...you can hear it from a room away! Brian and I have had several laugh sessions over this already. Yes. We laugh at our two week old son.

Logan is really filling out. He has lost a signifigant amount of weight which is requiring us to supplement with formula. Today he had a weight check (we think it is funny he is weighing in already) and he is 8 ounces from his birth weight. We still have a little way to go, but at least we are going up on the scale instead of down.
On another note, Logan has pretty large hands and feet. We are hoping this will benefit him in the pool. Brian and Logan have been practicing the strokes. Logan prefers the flutter kick...

Here is Logan on his two-week birthday...

Random Pop Quiz... This blog entry starts with "Today is Logan's birthday!" In what book is every other chapter titled with the same line (different name)?
