New Discoveries

Logan has discovered how to roll and scoot. It is quite amusing actually! Brian and I will put him on one side of the room and before we know it he will roll across the room. Of course, he can only roll in one direction... Most of the time he will roll until he gets under the coffee table and then cries until someone moves him back. Yesterday Brian and I were in our bedroom putting away laundry and Logan rolled into doorway and just watched us. It was too funny!

On his way across the room, he will stop and look for a toy or his pacifier. If he sees one of them, he will push his bottom up and scoot on his face until he reaches it. The poor kid is going to have rug burn on his face before too long!

I am posting a video of Logan rolling across the room. It is a great video because you will see him roll, but you also get to see his interaction with Katy, which isn't much, but is plenty as far as I am concerned. Logan will always just lay there and watch Katy run back and forth. Sometimes he will reach out and pet her, and will even start giggling when Katy chews on her squeaky toy. It's pretty funny! Anyway, back to the video... Three things before you watch this video...1) Logan is upset at the beginning because he lost his pacifier a couple of rolls before. 2)We are laughing so hard because he was tooting while rolling. 3) I know we need to pick up the Wii cords... Enjoy! (P.S. Just turn the volume down so you don't have to listen to my baby talk... From now on Idon't think I'll say a word while videotaping...)

Logan Update

Logan is a whopping 4 1/2 months old! Time has passed so unbelievably fast it seems unreal. He just keeps getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger! At his 4 month appointment he weighed 16 lbs. and 9 oz. (77th %), was 27 in. long (96th %), and 44 cm. head circumference (90th %). Isn't that crazy?

Brian and I just can't believe how fast development is at this stage either! He has discovered both hands and feet, can reach out and grab what he wants, is laughing, has learned to scream and yell, can roll over both directions (and does instantly when you lay him down), is eating rice cereal, drinking 6 ounces every 2.5-3 hours, gets up once per night (except for a couple week ago which was exhausting), in 6-9 month clothing (more on the 9 month side...), is in size 3 diapers, and is really developing quite the personality (or what I would call an attitude...).

Here are a few pictures of our precious little Logie...
Logie Bear looking at his "fish" with Brian....

Tootie-Frootie eating his rice cereal (which is how he got this name!)...

My Big Guy and I reading before bedtime...

We truly have enjoyed every minute with Logan. Because of his developing personality, it is becoming harder and harder to drop him off at daycare in the morning, but making it easier to leave school at the end of the day (as if I needed more motivation!). Speaking of...Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! Have a good one!

How could I forget?

Honestly. How could I forget to put something ssoo important into my 2010 Preview list? As some of you know, I am a huge Nicholas Sparks fan. Are his books the best written books out there? Eh...no. Are they pretty predictable? Eh...yes. But, I love them! Well, one of my favorite Nicholas Sparks book is being made into a movie (or has been made since they are done filming-whatever). Dear John. Have I already said I love this book? I love the characters of John and Savannah. I love how the relationship develops between and John and his dad. I love the sacrifices made at the end of the book, but not necessarily how they are made.

The movie Dear John stars Channing Tatum from Step Up (hhhoootttt) as John, and Amanda Seyfried from HBO's Big Love as Savannah. Could the cast be any better? I think not! (I have my middle school girls so hooked I think I should make a profit!)

This is going to be a movie I can watch over, and over, and over again. I predict this movie to have the same success as The Notebook. (You heard it here folks!) But, watch the trailer and decide for youself...Enjoy!

2009 Review...2010 Preview

Oh Mr. 2010, will you be as memorable as 2009? 2009 was a great year for us in the Rankin house. Here is a quick review of the past year...

January: Brian and I rang in 2009 together at home with a little secret. We had a first sonogram in January (exciting, exciting!), and I started the second semester at my new school.

February: Brian and I heard our secret's "official" heartbeat for the first time.

March: I celebrated my 26th birthday in California with Brian at his dad's house.

April: April marked half-way in the pregnancy! We had another sonogram and enjoyed seeing our little boy on the screen.

May: I finished my first year as a Jr. High teacher!

June: Brian and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary with a trip to KC and a couple nights at Chateau Avalon. The first night we stayed in the Lincoln room, and the second night in the Jesse James room. We had our first 3D sonogram and couldn't believe our eyes! What an amazing machine!

July: Brian and I were able to spend a couple of days with his brother's family when they were back in Kansas. I also had the "huge" honor of standing up with my friend Kara at her wedding. (If any of you were there, you will know what I mean by "huge". Poor Kara...she'll have to look at that all her life...!

August: I started my 2nd year as a Jr. High teacher in the Rock Creek district, and of course the most memorable event of 2009 was the birth of Mr. Logan. I don't think there are any words to describe that experience. I can't wait, but can, to experience it again!

September: Oh September...honestly, this month was a blur. Brian's dad and step-mom visited us at the end of the month.

October: Our little pumkin celebrated his first Halloween,

November: After 5 years at Walgreen's, Brian began a new job at Leiszler Oil Co.

December: Brian, Logan, and I celebrated our first Christmas together! Brian's dad and step-mom visited us, and Brian celebrated is 28th birthday.

Wow! I think I could have sent out a Christmas letter! It was a very memorable year for us!! I have heard with children it only gets better, but I think 2009 will always have an extra special place in our hearts.

This year in 2010, we already have some pretty big events we are looking forward to. A wedding in February... My 27th birthday in March...My graduation in May...Our second wedding anniversary and a wedding in June...Logan's 1st birthday in August...Brian's 29th birthday in December... This year will also be marked with all of Logan's accomplishments. It is amazing how rapidly they develop!

Hopefully your 2010 has started off well!
