Logan Update

Logan is a whopping 4 1/2 months old! Time has passed so unbelievably fast it seems unreal. He just keeps getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger! At his 4 month appointment he weighed 16 lbs. and 9 oz. (77th %), was 27 in. long (96th %), and 44 cm. head circumference (90th %). Isn't that crazy?

Brian and I just can't believe how fast development is at this stage either! He has discovered both hands and feet, can reach out and grab what he wants, is laughing, has learned to scream and yell, can roll over both directions (and does instantly when you lay him down), is eating rice cereal, drinking 6 ounces every 2.5-3 hours, gets up once per night (except for a couple week ago which was exhausting), in 6-9 month clothing (more on the 9 month side...), is in size 3 diapers, and is really developing quite the personality (or what I would call an attitude...).

Here are a few pictures of our precious little Logie...
Logie Bear looking at his "fish" with Brian....

Tootie-Frootie eating his rice cereal (which is how he got this name!)...

We truly have enjoyed every minute with Logan. Because of his developing personality, it is becoming harder and harder to drop him off at daycare in the morning, but making it easier to leave school at the end of the day (as if I needed more motivation!). Speaking of...Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! Have a good one!

How could I forget?

Honestly. How could I forget to put something ssoo important into my 2010 Preview list? As some of you know, I am a huge Nicholas Sparks fan. Are his books the best written books out there? Eh...no. Are they pretty predictable? Eh...yes. But, I love them! Well, one of my favorite Nicholas Sparks book is being made into a movie (or has been made since they are done filming-whatever). Dear John. Have I already said I love this book? I love the characters of John and Savannah. I love how the relationship develops between and John and his dad. I love the sacrifices made at the end of the book, but not necessarily how they are made.

The movie Dear John stars Channing Tatum from Step Up (hhhoootttt) as John, and Amanda Seyfried from HBO's Big Love as Savannah. Could the cast be any better? I think not! (I have my middle school girls so hooked I think I should make a profit!)

This is going to be a movie I can watch over, and over, and over again. I predict this movie to have the same success as The Notebook. (You heard it here folks!) But, watch the trailer and decide for youself...Enjoy!

2009 Review...2010 Preview

Oh Mr. 2010, will you be as memorable as 2009? 2009 was a great year for us in the Rankin house. Here is a quick review of the past year...

January: Brian and I rang in 2009 together at home with a little secret. We had a first sonogram in January (exciting, exciting!), and I started the second semester at my new school.

February: Brian and I heard our secret's "official" heartbeat for the first time.

March: I celebrated my 26th birthday in California with Brian at his dad's house.

April: April marked half-way in the pregnancy! We had another sonogram and enjoyed seeing our little boy on the screen.

May: I finished my first year as a Jr. High teacher!

June: Brian and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary with a trip to KC and a couple nights at Chateau Avalon. The first night we stayed in the Lincoln room, and the second night in the Jesse James room. We had our first 3D sonogram and couldn't believe our eyes! What an amazing machine!

July: Brian and I were able to spend a couple of days with his brother's family when they were back in Kansas. I also had the "huge" honor of standing up with my friend Kara at her wedding. (If any of you were there, you will know what I mean by "huge". Poor Kara...she'll have to look at that all her life...!

August: I started my 2nd year as a Jr. High teacher in the Rock Creek district, and of course the most memorable event of 2009 was the birth of Mr. Logan. I don't think there are any words to describe that experience. I can't wait, but can, to experience it again!

September: Oh September...honestly, this month was a blur. Brian's dad and step-mom visited us at the end of the month.

October: Our little pumkin celebrated his first Halloween,

November: After 5 years at Walgreen's, Brian began a new job at Leiszler Oil Co.

December: Brian, Logan, and I celebrated our first Christmas together! Brian's dad and step-mom visited us, and Brian celebrated is 28th birthday.

Wow! I think I could have sent out a Christmas letter! It was a very memorable year for us!! I have heard with children it only gets better, but I think 2009 will always have an extra special place in our hearts.

This year in 2010, we already have some pretty big events we are looking forward to. A wedding in February... My 27th birthday in March...My graduation in May...Our second wedding anniversary and a wedding in June...Logan's 1st birthday in August...Brian's 29th birthday in December... This year will also be marked with all of Logan's accomplishments. It is amazing how rapidly they develop!

Hopefully your 2010 has started off well!

A Visit to Santa

Logan went to see Santa twice this weekend! He was more interested in the people walking by him then he was in Santa, but we were able to get his attention for a couple shots. This photo is taken of Logan and Santa in Westmoreland. We had a Christmas "extravaganza" in Westmoreland Saturday morning with craft booths, a silent auction, a cake walk, and games for the kids, and Santa, of course. We thought it was neat and enjoyed attending the festivities. Some of my kids were there and enjoyed meeting Logan. (We like his arm placement in this picture. When I went to pick him up, he had ahold of Santa's beard!)

On another note, Logan rolled over from his back to his stomach tonight. He has been trying really hard for the past couple weeks, but tonight he did it! He had rolled on his side and was hanging out there for a while, and they all of sudden he kicked himself over. I was so excited I rolled him back over to see if he would do it again, and he did! Then we had to show dad, of course, and do it a couple more times just for the fun of it. He has rolled from his stomach to his back twice, but isn't as good at that quite yet. Logan is growing so quickly we can't hardly believe it! He will turn 4 months this week and Brian and I are both kind of sad about it... He definitely isn't a little baby anymore! We take him to the doctor next week to see just how big he is, but you can tell by the pictures that he is probably in the higher percentile...!

Here's a picture to start your Christmas week off right!

3 Months!

Logan turned 3 months last Thursday, and my blog stalkers didn't barely see any of the 2nd month! So, I am going to try and catch you all up... We didn't take Logan to the doctor this month, but we tried to measure him here at home. Our measurements showed 25 in. long and approx. 14 lbs. He is a big guy! He doesn't have a lot of rolls, he is just big! He has changed so much this month, and is becoming quite the entertainer! Here are a few new things...

Logan still loves bath time and has one every night, but what's new are his conversations with the shampoo bottles. The second we put him in his bathtub he turns right to the bottles and starts smiling and talking to them. It is the funniest thing! Last night he kicked so hard in the water he pushed himself into the bigger part of his tub. He didn't go under but it startled both of is to say the least.

He is enjoying tummy time more and becoming much better at it. He is also much less wobbly when we hold him upright. He has also started trying to sit up. He doesn't really enjoy leaning back so he is constantly trying to sit up. This doesn't work out so well after he as eaten... Hence the bib. Not only do we need the bib for this reason, but he is also discovering that he can spit (which is quite interesting).

Logan has also discovered his tongue and hands. He enjoys sticking his tongue in and out and rolling it around in his mouth (another reason for the bib). Also, when he doesn't have his pacifier available, he chews on his hands which are now red and chapped looking. He has also discovered his voice, but that is for another post....

Logan still loves his swing (Thank Goodness!) and Brian still enjoys watching him swing and talking to him while he is in it.
As for me, I enjoy some good 'ole cuddling. I know he won't want to do it for much longer, so I take every chance I get.

And to my blog stalkers, I promise to post more than once in December...hopefully...

Our Little Pumpkin

Logan was a pumpkin for Halloween this year. It wasn't really a costume, but a pumpkin jumper. We went back to Clay Center and enjoyed handing out candy to kids who trick-or-treated at my parent's house on Fifth street. It was crazy! You looked down the street and it looked like it was a scene out of a movie!
Here is a picture of the cutest pumpkin we have ever seen!
I think this picture is halarious because his chunky face is all smooshed! He is also doing his new favorite thing--riding the horsie!
